Tias is the municipality that controls the resort of
Puerto del Carmen, but the town of Tias is very different still
retaining its Canarian origins and can not be classed as a holiday
resort, but it does provide a number of quality villas for holiday
makers who would rather be away from the busier areas but still have
restaurants and bars only a walk away.
Tias is normally a couple of degrees cooler than
Puerto del Carmen but in the hot summer months this can be a
pleasant relief but beware as the strength of the sun can be very
deceptive and will burn unprotected skin very quickly. Tias has a regular bus service and there is a
Taxi rank situated in the town (If you want to be dropped in the
town when travelling by taxi simply ask for Tias Centro)
The village of Tias has a variety of bars, restaurants, and shops,
all used by the local population, so the price you pay will not be
the tourist price
that you find in the resorts. You will find a large selection of property
available in Tias from apartments to some grand Villas, as the
village has grown in size so has its attraction to tourism as an
escape from the busier area of Puerto del Carmen but still
within easy reach.
